VIJAYAPURA
Allegations of poor-quality construction have surfaced regarding the ongoing footpath development work at Ibrahimpur Railway Station within Vijayapura city limits.
Representatives of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Swabhimani Sainya), led by State President Jagadev Suryavanshi, have urged Vijayapura MP Ramesh Jigajinagi and concerned railway authorities to take immediate action against those responsible.
According to the statement, several senior citizens—including a retired lecturer from the Education Department, a former Municipal Commissioner, and a retired Executive Engineer from the Maharashtra government—visited the site and raised concerns about the quality of work. They alleged that the construction is being carried out using inadequate materials, compromising durability and safety, and resulting in misuse of public funds.
Following these complaints, Jagadev Suryavanshi personally inspected the site and reportedly found evidence supporting the allegations. Video and photographic documentation of the work have been submitted to the authorities for verification.
The organisation has demanded an immediate inspection by the district administration and railway officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and senior railway officers. It has also called for strict action against those found guilty, including suspension of responsible officials and blacklisting of the contractor involved.
Expressing concern over the alleged misuse of taxpayers’ money, the organisation has stressed the need for transparency, accountability, and adherence to quality standards in public works. The group has warned that if prompt action is not taken, it will be compelled to launch a protest in the interest of the public.
