One day special training on cooperative law and computerization was held for office bearers of primary agricultural cooperative societies of Shirahatti and Lakshmashwara taluks, highlighting the need for modern skills to strengthen the cooperative sector. The program was jointly organized by the Cooperation Department, Karnataka State Cooperative Federation, Gadag District Cooperative Union, and KCC Bank Ltd. at Kala Bhavan in Shirahatti.

Inaugurating the program, Govind Gowda V.H. Patil, Director of KCC Bank, said training on cooperative laws and computer systems is essential for the healthy growth of cooperative societies. He said laws change from time to time and office bearers must clearly understand them to run societies smoothly and transparently. He added that KCC Bank plans to open new branches to improve credit access, increase deposits, support rural self reliance, and create jobs for youth.

He explained that computerization, ERP systems, and multi service centers are helping strengthen rural economies. Cooperative societies, he said, play an important role in national income growth and serve farmers at low cost. He stressed that technology based services improve trust among members and customers.

Sales Officer B.R. Nidagundi said ERP systems help primary societies become rural service centers by improving delivery of credit and essential services at the doorstep. He also said the Yashaswini health scheme will conclude by March 2026 and members should be made aware to benefit from it.

Presiding over the program, Sunita Shidram, Chief Executive Officer of KCC Bank, said 539 PACS under the bank are being computerized, with most audits already completed. She said ERP software is user friendly, supports regional languages, and helps manage all society activities efficiently.

Experts delivered sessions on recent amendments to the Cooperative Act, duties of office bearers, and the need for ethical leadership. Officials, trainers, and cooperative representatives from Gadag district actively participated, making the program informative and useful for strengthening cooperative institutions.
