Over one crore visit Mamata’s APAS camps

Kolkata
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced that more than one crore people from across West Bengal visited her government’s ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan’ (APAS) camps within a month. The initiative aims to provide solutions to local issues through direct engagement with citizens.

CM Banerjee said that in just 26 days, around 14,500 APAS camps were held, reflecting the public’s faith in her administration. “This spontaneous participation strengthens the democratic and participatory governance culture in the state,” she noted. She congratulated government officials, volunteers, and people’s representatives for ensuring the initiative’s success and thanked the citizens for their trust.

The APAS campaign, launched on August 2, is a flagship project designed to institutionalise participatory governance and bring government services to residents’ doorsteps. Its core goal is to resolve grievances on the spot and connect citizens directly with officials. The program is scheduled to continue until November 3, with about 27,000 camps planned during this period.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, Banerjee said, “We are deeply committed to reaching every person in Bengal with the benefits meant for them. Our Ma-Maati-Manush government will continue to shoulder responsibility and provide quick and meaningful solutions.”

The campaign has been hailed as a successful model of grassroots engagement, with its scale and rapid participation underscoring the demand for direct interaction between citizens and the state administration. By addressing local issues efficiently, the APAS initiative seeks to enhance trust, transparency, and citizen-centric governance across West Bengal.
