Actor Prajwal Devaraj has stepped into film production by producing a new Kannada film titled MGR. The project is being made jointly by Dynamic Ventures and Purathana Film Productions. The title and first look of the film were unveiled on Wednesday evening to mark the birthday of lead actor Pranam Devaraj.
Veteran actor Devaraj, who attended the event as chief guest, called the occasion a happy and proud moment. He said it took him three decades in cinema before becoming a producer, while his son achieved the milestone much earlier. He praised Pranam’s mass look in the poster and said he was pleasantly surprised. Devaraj also appreciated music director Charan Raj and cinematographer Krishna Muttanna for their strong contributions.
Purathana Films executive producer Divya Keshav said she was happy to collaborate with Prajwal on the film. Director Srikanth Hunasuru said this is his second film with Pranam and added that the meaning of MGR will be revealed later. He said the actor will be seen in a fresh style.
Speaking as producer, Prajwal said the story is set in 2005 and revolves around Pranam. He said the team will support new talent and plans to hold the muhurat by March end or Ugadi.
Pranam Devaraj said the film marks a new chapter for him. He said the role will showcase different emotions and that he is preparing hard for a new look and body language. The film has music by Charan Raj and cinematography by Skating Krishna.
