‘NREGA Bachao Andolan should become a people’s movement’

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to continue the struggle until the MGNREGA is reinstated and VB-G RAM G is repealed.
Addressing the Mahatma Gandhi Udyog Khatri Yojana Bachao Sangram Purva Siddat Sambhava organised by the KPCC at Gayatri Vihar here on Tuesday, he stressed the need to make the ‘NREGA Bachao Andolan’ a people’s movement.
He further said in rural areas, one could ask for work for 365 days. People could work in their own village, on their own land. To change this, the Modi government brought in the VB-G RAM G Act. “This is not Dasharatha Ram, Sita Ram or Kaushalya Ram. This is Nathuram, who killed Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji has been murdered again through VBG Ram Ji,” he alleged.
‘No confusion! Meeting with Rahul casual’
Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said there was no confusion over power sharing in the party and terms it as a media creation.
Speaking to reporters at the Mysore Airport after meeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the CM said there was no political discussion with Rahul Gandhi. “He was going to Gudlu to attend a programme and I just met him on the way,” the CM said.
When pointed out that his party MLAs were talking about leadership change, Siddaramaiah said, “MLAs are not aware of anything. I or Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar should speak about it.”
However, he added that the decision of the party leaders would be followed in the matter of power sharing.
‘Govt ready for local body polls’
He said that the government was ready to hold local body elections and expressed confidence that the BJP-JD(S) would not have any impact on the municipal elections.
‘Budget in first week of March’
The CM further said the budget would be presented in the first week of March.
