Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday joined her brother and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar. The 16-day campaign, launched from Sasaram on August 17, aims to cover more than 1,300 km across the state before concluding with a rally in Patna on September 1.
The yatra resumed in Supaul after a day’s break, drawing enthusiastic crowds as Ms. Vadra, Mr. Gandhi, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and CPI (ML) Liberation leader Dipankar Bhattacharya were seen waving from the roof of a slow-moving SUV. The joint presence of INDIA bloc leaders signaled a strong show of unity ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled later this year.
Addressing the media earlier in Araria, Rahul Gandhi said all INDIA bloc constituents in Bihar were working with “ideological and political alignment” and would soon release a common manifesto. He described the alliance as a “good partnership” rooted in mutual respect and shared goals.
The Congress leader also launched a sharp attack on the NDA government, alleging that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar was “an institutionalised attempt by the Election Commission to steal votes in favour of the BJP.” He warned that those “who steal people’s votes should quit the throne.”
Tejashwi Yadav, who also participated in the yatra, accused the BJP of “using the Election Commission to snatch away people’s right to vote” and vowed to continue speaking “the truth without fear,” despite an FIR against him in Maharashtra.
So far, the yatra has traversed districts including Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Katihar and Purnea, with upcoming stops in Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, West Champaran, Saran, Bhojpur and Patna.
