Tijil Rao from Bengaluru has secured the overall title in the LGB Formula 4 category at the 27th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship. The final rounds took place at the Kari Motor Speedway near Coimbatore on Sunday.
The 22-year-old, representing Dark Don Racing, had already built an unassailable lead before the last round, ensuring his championship win. Despite seasoned racer Saran Vikram’s victories in the first two races of the day, Tijil played it safe, avoiding unnecessary risks.
“This season has been incredible. My hard work and the support of my team paid off,” Tijil said. Reflecting on his journey, he noted how focused fitness training and seven years of racing experience had shaped his success. Tijil finished the season with 87 points, far ahead of Bala Prasath (45 points) and Mehul Agarwal (44 points).
Saran Vikram, a Momentum Motorsports driver with over 19 years of racing experience, surprised everyone by dominating Sunday’s races. He won the first race with a timing of 21:24.212 and continued his streak in the afternoon, clocking 28:12.441 in the final race. Saran expressed joy over his performance, saying, “It feels great to win again. This platform is fantastic for upcoming racers.”
Meanwhile, in the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup, Pondicherry’s Navaneeth Kumar won the 10-lap race with a time of 13:01.601, securing his first championship.
