Ecuador’s manager Sebastian Beccacece expressed confidence as his team prepares to face Colombia in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Tuesday. Ecuador, currently fifth in the South American group with 16 points from 11 matches, is just three points behind third-placed Colombia.
The match, set to take place in Barranquilla, offers both teams an opportunity to solidify their positions in the automatic qualification zone.
“It’s going to be a nice challenge,” said Beccacece during a press conference. “We are well-prepared and ready to compete on level terms against a side that is playing very well.”
Since taking over as Ecuador’s manager in August, Beccacece has been working to strengthen the squad. He acknowledged Colombia’s strengths, particularly their dynamic attacking players and solid defense.
“They have in-form forwards and dangerous wingers who excel in attack. Defensively, their players are both physically strong and technically skilled,” he noted.
However, Beccacece remains optimistic about Ecuador’s growth. “Our team is developing well. Despite being very young, our players are showing great maturity. We hope to finish the year with a win against Colombia,” he added.
