A Appajigowda, Vice President of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh’s South Zone, emphasized the need for immediate action by the government during a Taluk Committee meeting. He criticized the inclusion of temples, monasteries, government schools, and lands in Kolar and Malur taluks under Waqf jurisdiction. He assured that the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh would oppose such measures through protests.
Taluk Unit President UR Narayanagowda also spoke, explaining the negative impact of the Waqf Act on farmers. He encouraged the participation of pro-Kannada groups, Dalit-friendly organizations, traders, agricultural laborers, and construction workers in the rally, urging unity across political lines for the cause.
District Treasurer V Jayappa criticized the Chief Minister’s response to the Waqf Act as insufficient and called for a special legislative session to amend it. He warned that the Act was causing division among communities and harming farmers.
The meeting saw attendance from local leaders and committee members, who voiced similar concerns and pledged support for the rally in Bangalore.
