Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi called upon the students to rise as job creators and not just job seekers as they have unlimited opportunities in various fields.
Inaugurating the IIIT Dharwad Conclave-2024, Breaking barriers and setting new standards; explore. experience. excel, organised to mark the 10th anniversary of IIIT Dharwad on its campus, the minister said today’s youth have boundless opportunities in areas like artificial intelligence, IoT, and digital transformation.
He hailed India’s advancements in digital technology, such as the global success of UPI and underscored govt’s support for emerging fields like drones and smart agriculture, urging students to contribute to a progressive, digital India.
Deputy Leader of opposition in the Legislative Assembly and MLA Arvind Bellad, who was the guest of honour, highlighted the importance of regional development and the pivotal role institutions like IIIT Dharwad play in bridging education and technological progress. He shared his vision for north Karnataka as a tech-driven innovation hub and emphasised the importance of nurturing local talent for national impact. In honor of the institute’s 10th anniversary, the dignitaries unveiled a booklet ‘10 years of IIIT Dharwad’, celebrating a decade of academic growth, research advancements, and community engagement. This was followed by the launch of three key initiatives that signify IIIT Dharwad’s commitment to lifelong learning, sustainability, and regional innovation.
IIIT Dharwad director Prof SR Mahadeva Prasanna weclomed the gathering and explained the achievements of the institution in the last decade. He said the conclave is a key event designed to attract major companies from Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune to Hubballi-Dharwad and Belagavi region. It serves as a platform to demonstrate the region’s capacity to provide premier education and skilled manpower through institutions like IIIT Dharwad.
