President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the vital contributions of women in India’s civil aviation industry, noting their increasing participation in various operational and technical roles. During a meeting with women leaders in aviation at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, she emphasized the need for equal opportunities alongside growing female representation in the sector.

President Murmu pointed out that women currently make up 15% of Air Traffic Controllers, 11% of flight dispatchers, and 9% of aerospace engineers in India. She also noted that 18% of pilots who earned commercial licenses last year were women.

Murmu stressed the importance of education and training for women in aviation, along with family support. She acknowledged that many women struggle to pursue their dreams despite having higher education due to a lack of encouragement from their families. She urged successful women in the field to mentor others, encouraging them to follow their aspirations.

The discussion was part of the “President with the People” initiative, aimed at fostering connections with citizens and recognizing their contributions. Murmu praised the innovative spirit of women achievers in aviation and remarked that government efforts have significantly improved opportunities for women in this sector. She concluded that more women are now choosing careers in aviation, reflecting a positive trend toward inclusivity in the industry.
