Wild card Hamad Medjedovic delivered a thrilling performance at the Belgrade Open on Sunday night, defeating sixth seed Brandon Nakashima 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. The match unfolded with Novak Djokovic in attendance, adding to the excitement for the home crowd.

Medjedovic struggled initially but found his footing in the second set, winning 86% of his first-serve points. Despite facing break points in the deciding set, he maintained composure to secure his first tour-level hard-court victory of 2024.

“I was trying to keep my nerves and find my game,” Medjedovic noted after the match. He improved his record against Top 50 opponents to 8-6.

In another match, Fabian Marozsan staged a comeback to defeat #NextGenATP star Shang Juncheng 2-6, 7-6(5), 7-5. After losing the first set quickly, Marozsan capitalized on crucial moments to claim victory, marking his first indoor win of the season.

Medjedovic will face qualifier Branko Djuric or Aleksander Kovacevic in the second round, while Marozsan prepares to meet either Dusan Lajovic or ninth seed Mariano Navone.
