The disengagement between India and China in Depsang and Demchok, located in Eastern Ladakh, has been successfully completed, as confirmed by Indian Army sources on Wednesday. Following this process, both countries are set to begin coordinated patrolling in their respective areas soon.
According to Army officials, Disengagement between India and China in Depsang and Demchok is complete. Coordinated patrolling will start shortly, and ground commanders will continue to communicate. Additionally, there will be an exchange of sweets during Diwali tomorrow.
India has been actively seeking to resolve this long-standing border dispute, aiming to restore conditions to what they were before Chinese incursions began in April 2020. On Friday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry acknowledged that troops from both nations are currently engaged in relevant tasks as part of their agreement on border matters. Spokesperson Lin Jian stated that this work is progressing smoothly.
On October 21, India announced a new agreement with China regarding patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which marks the end of a military standoff that has lasted over four years. This agreement was welcomed by both Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their meeting at the BRICS Summit in Russia, highlighting a commitment to improved relations.
