Cambodia celebrated the 20th anniversary of King Norodom Sihamoni’s coronation on Wednesday with a grand gathering in front of the Royal Palace, attended by nearly 12,000 participants. The event highlighted the country’s peace and rapid socio-economic development over the past two decades.
King Sihamoni, accompanied by Prime Minister Hun Manet and other national leaders, addressed the crowd, noting that the celebration comes at a time of political stability and national security. He praised Prime Minister Hun Manet for initiating the first stage of the Pentagonal Strategy and for continuing the political legacy of former Prime Minister Hun Sen.
In his congratulatory message, Hun Manet commended the king for his significant contributions to the nation, religion, and socio-economic growth.
King Sihamoni, 71, became the king of Cambodia on October 29, 2004, after his father, King Norodom Sihanouk, abdicated due to health issues. The Southeast Asian nation organized a three-day celebration from Monday to Wednesday, featuring an elaborate religious ceremony, a mass gathering, a photography exhibition of the king, and a three-night fireworks display.
