On Monday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the ‘Vigilance Awareness Week and Training Camp 2024.’ He announced plans to establish a team of surveillance, technical, and financial experts aimed at strengthening the Vigilance Department’s effectiveness.
During the event organized by the Directorate of Vigilance Establishment, Dhami emphasized the theme Prosperity of the Nation with the Culture of Integrity at Kargi Grant on Haridwar Bypass Road. He also recognized personnel from the Vigilance Establishment Uttarakhand (VEU) for their contributions.
I’m glad that we hold this Awareness Week every year on Sardar Patel’s birthday to promote transparency and accountability in public administration. I encourage everyone to uphold these values throughout this week. This initiative helps people understand their rights and encourages a governance style that is transparent and accountable. To foster a culture of integrity, it’s vital to work with honesty and ethics, Dhami stated.
He highlighted the importance of involving experts and mentioned that India is on a path to become a developed nation by 2047. Dhami noted significant progress in the country’s economy and governance, crediting initiatives like demonetization and GST with reducing corruption. He reinforced the Uttarakhand government’s commitment to zero tolerance for corruption and shared that the vigilance department has registered about 7,800 complaints since launching its toll-free number in 2022.
