Former BJP MLC CP Yogeshwara has filed his nomination as the Congress candidate from the Channapatna Assembly constituency. The nomination was submitted on Thursday in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Yogeshwara, who led a large procession in Channapatna town, filed his nomination at the Tahsildar’s office. The seat was previously held by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed confidence that Yogeshwara would receive strong support from the people and win by a significant margin. He mentioned that the candidate’s previous two terms as an MLA show his capability. It was said that Yogeshwara returned to Congress after facing injustice from the BJP and NDA. His return was fully supported by the Congress party.
Siddaramaiah further highlighted the Congress government’s development programmes and guarantee schemes, which demonstrate the party’s commitment to fulfilling its promises. He expressed belief that the Congress party’s performance would be endorsed by voters in the Channapatna by-election.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, addressing the gathering, challenged Kumaraswamy to present a detailed list of his contributions to the Channapatna constituency during his two terms as Chief Minister. It was said that the people should be shown evidence of his work. He also urged voters to elect Yogeshwara with the highest possible margin, emphasising the Congress candidate’s readiness to serve the constituency effectively. Yogeshwara has rejoined Congress and is officially representing the party in the upcoming by-election.
