The Tungabhadra Board has announced that due to the increasing inflow of water in the dam’s catchment area caused by heavy rainfall, they will be releasing 50,000 to 90,000 cusecs of water into the river starting from Tuesday midnight.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Center (KSNDMC) has announced that the Tungabhadra reservoir is expected to discharge between 90,000 and 120,000 cusecs of water starting at 9 am on Tuesday.

In light of this, the Tungabhadra Board has advised residents living along the riverbank and in downstream villages to exercise caution, as the volume of water released will be contingent upon the inflow levels.
The process of releasing water into the river began on Monday, with an inflow of 31,000 cusecs. A total of 49,000 cusecs of water was already being discharged from the dam, including 35,000 cusecs released through 10 crest gates and the rest of the water through various canals.
As of Tuesday noon, the inflow was recorded at 52,001 cusecs, while the outflow was 51,309 cusecs. The reservoir’s maximum level is 1,633 feet, and on Tuesday, the water level reached 1631.9 feet, storing 101.4 TMC feet of water.
