Preparations are underway for Byndoor Utsav, scheduled from November 1 to 3, with a focus on zero-waste management. Clean Kinara, a youth-driven organisation, is educating participants on sustainable practices. This Utsav is being held under the Samruddha Byndoor initiative led by local leaders. It is said to be the first large-scale festival of this kind in Byndoor.

The festival aims to showcase the local culture, traditions, and values of the region while promoting development to attract global investors. Various stalls will highlight local features, including food products and art, along with sports and cultural programmes.

Clean Kinara’s 75th beach cleaning activity is planned for November 3. Byndoor, known for its scenic beaches, saw the return of olive ridley turtles for nesting after 30 years, which further motivated environmental efforts in the area.

During the Utsav, the Clean Kinara team will demonstrate ways to reuse plastic and glass bottles. They will also replace flex banners with fabric and use eco-friendly badges made from leaves. These badges are being crafted by volunteers and will be used in future events if successful.

In addition, 50 local families will take a Swachhata Sankalpa pledge to adopt sustainable living practices during the festival. This initiative aims to inspire others in the town by serving as role models.

The Byndoor Utsav will also include activities to promote environmental awareness alongside its cultural and sporting events.
