India and Singapore strengthen educational cooperation

India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with Singaporean PM Lawrence Wong on Monday to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in school education, vocational training, and research. The focus was on deepening ties through three pillars – Talent, Resource, and Market.

Pradhan emphasized India’s view of Singapore as a trusted partner in areas like deep tech, startups, and innovation. Sharing his sentiments on X, he noted, ‘Had meaningful conversations on elevating and expanding our cooperation in education and research.’ He highlighted that PM Narendra Modi and PM Wong have established a robust framework for advancing the India-Singapore partnership in these sectors.

During his visit, Pradhan also met Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, where both sides agreed to strengthen the India-Singapore Knowledge Partnership. They discussed ways to boost collaboration in higher education and research.

Pradhan’s trip to Singapore is part of a broader effort to enhance educational cooperation with Singapore and Australia. He also visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) to explore potential research partnerships in medical technology, digitalization, and startups between NUS and top Indian institutions.
