Vikram Dutt assumes charge as Coal Secretary

Vikram Dev Dutt has officially taken over as the Coal Secretary on Monday, succeeding V L Kantha Rao, who is now serving as the Mines Secretary. Dutt, a 1993-batch IAS officer from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre, previously held the position of Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Before Dutt’s appointment, Amrit Lal Meena served as the Coal Secretary but was repatriated to his home cadre in Bihar, where he has been appointed as the Chief Secretary. Meena, a 1989-batch IAS officer, was repatriated following a request from the Bihar government, as confirmed by a personnel ministry order dated August 30.
