Tata Motors has announced an order from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) for 1,000 units of the Tata LPO 1618 diesel bus chassis on Monday. This order follows the successful delivery of 1,350 bus chassis from a previous order, which are currently being operated efficiently by UPSRTC.
The Tata LPO 1618 chassis is designed for intercity and long-distance travel, offering superior performance, excellent passenger comfort, and a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Anand S, Vice President and Head of the Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors, emphasized that the chassis is engineered for reliability, low maintenance, and high uptime.
The delivery of the bus chassis will occur in a phased manner according to mutually agreed terms between Tata Motors and UPSRTC. The company has been actively providing advanced buses and public transportation solutions across various cities and states in India, supporting efficient travel for millions.
Tata Motors, part of the $165 billion Tata Group, is a leading global automobile manufacturer with a diverse portfolio, including cars, utility vehicles, trucks, and buses. In addition, UPSRTC is planning to deploy 20 of its 120 new electric buses in both Lucknow and Ayodhya, contributing to the state’s fleet of around 740 electric buses, all featuring a floor height of 900 mm.
