A two-year-old leopardess was rescued from a kitchen in a house in Akkasaligara Keri, Bappanadu, Mulki. Locals had earlier reported sightings of a leopard in the area, which led the forest department to place a cage about a kilometre away from the house four days before the incident. Despite the precaution, the leopard entered the house and moved into the kitchen.

The family reacted quickly by locking the kitchen door and contacting the forest department. Forest officials immediately arrived at the location and started the rescue operation. A cage and net were set up, and the leopardess was trapped without any harm.

Before the rescue, the homeowner had heard noises in the washroom and thought they were made by cats. Upon checking, the leopard was seen inside the room connected to the kitchen. The homeowner quietly left the room, locked the door, and secured the family dog. The leopard was later found near the kitchen’s gas cylinder, and the rescue team managed to capture it.

The leopardess was taken for a medical check-up and will be released into the wild. Locals in the area believe there may be more leopards nearby, which has caused concern among residents. The forest department successfully completed the rescue operation and has assured that the animal will be safely relocated.

The rescue operation was completed safely, and further actions will be taken to address the leopard presence in the area.
