New Delhi

Indian telecom equipment manufacturer HFCL is setting ambitious goals for its export revenue, aiming for 70% of its fibre optic segment and 50% of its telecom gear to come from international sales within the next three years. Managing Director Mahendra Nahata shared this vision.

The company has noted a strong increase in demand for 5G equipment as telecom operators expand their 5G networks across the country. In addition to producing optical fibre cables, HFCL also makes essential telecom equipment that connects with base stations to improve service coverage.

HFCL is focused on boosting its exports, especially in Europe and North America, where growth opportunities are promising. The optical fibre cable market in Europe is expected to grow at about 4.5% annually over the next five years, with demand projected to reach 90 million fibre kilometers per year by 2028.

To support its export strategy, HFCL is establishing a new optical fibre cable plant in Poland. This facility will help the company reduce shipping times by around six weeks and increase its ability to fulfill orders.

Overall, HFCL plans to raise its share of exports in its optical fibre revenue from the current 30% to 70% over the next four to five years. With a strong focus on manufacturing, research and development, and complete solutions, HFCL is well-equipped to take advantage of the rising global demand for fibre optic and telecom equipment.
