Recently, Bilawal Bhutto of Pakistan called for dialogue with India. In response, veteran Congress leader Karan Singh stated that such talks can only occur if Pakistan stops supporting terrorism. He expressed his support for Bhutto’s initiative, noting, It’s a wise move. Bhutto seems to realize that fostering good relations with India is the way forward. However, talks will only happen if they stop sending terrorists.
Karan Singh emphasized that maintaining peaceful relations with Pakistan while terrorism continues is impossible. He stated, They are our neighbors, and we desire peaceful relations, but terrorism is the main obstacle. If they can put an end to terrorism, then discussions may proceed.
Bilawal Bhutto highlighted the importance of finding common ground between the two nations, particularly concerning climate change and terrorism, insisting that a conversation is necessary.
In Jammu and Kashmir, Congress extended external support as Omar Abdullah took the oath as Chief Minister. Karan Singh expressed his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of elections after a decade. He noted, While Congress secured only six seats, Omar Abdullah has a clear majority. He stressed the need for a strong government focused on the welfare of the people and expressed hopes for the restoration of statehood.
Regarding Priyanka Gandhi’s candidacy in Wayanad, he shared, I have known Priyanka and Rahul since childhood. Priyanka is an excellent speaker, and I support her in the elections.
