Excise Minister R.B. Timmapura reaffirmed his commitment to local farmers and workers by announcing that they are now free from debt. Speaking at the Ayudha Puja and resumption lock handover ceremony at the Runna Farmers’ Cooperative Sugar Factory in Thimmapura village, he emphasized that promises made for the reopening of the factory have been fulfilled.

Timmapura highlighted the revival of the district’s only cooperative sugar factory, stating that this development brings hope and prosperity to the farmers, workers, and shareholders who rely on the factory for their livelihoods. He credited CM Siddaramaiah’s strong support as crucial to the factory’s resurgence, which is expected to significantly boost the local economy.

The Minister addressed the President of Belagi Sugars Ltd., urging him not to politicize the sugar factory, which has faced controversy in the past. He described the revival as a significant milestone and a lifeline for the local agricultural community.

Former Minister S.R. Patil, Chairman of Baragi Sugar Limited, praised Timmapura’s dedication to restoring the factory, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between farmers and workers for future prosperity. Sugar and Textiles Minister Shivananda Patil noted that while governments may change, Siddaramaiah’s administration has consistently supported farmers with subsidies since 2013-14.

Local leaders, including Municipal Council President Sunanda Teli and Block Congress President Ashoka Kivadi, were also present at the event, marking a collective effort toward the factory’s success.
