In recognition of World Mental Health Day, the renovated Psychiatric Day Care Center was opened at Father Muller Medical College. This center is designed to support individuals with severe and chronic mental illnesses.
The Head of the Department of Psychiatry discussed the importance of psychosocial rehabilitation in helping patients regain their purpose and integrate into society. The center aims to provide structured rehabilitation services for both inpatients and outpatients.
The center will operate on weekdays from 9 AM to 4 PM and will offer various services, including rehabilitation needs assessment, social skills training, cognitive remediation, vocational counseling, and self-management strategies for illness.
A ceremony was held to bless the center, marking it as a place for healing. The institution’s historical commitment to mental health care was acknowledged, highlighting its role in providing psychiatric services in the region. Efforts to reduce stigma surrounding mental health were emphasized, reinforcing the commitment to dignity for mental health patients. Overall, the opening of the Psychiatric Day Care Center signifies a continued focus on mental health care and support for those in need.
