The Association of Defrauded Depositors, along with family members started an indefinite protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, demanding justice for the victims of financial fraud. The protesters alleged that numerous companies collected funds from thousands of people, promising to double their money within a short period or provide high returns on shares, but instead defrauded them of crores of rupees before disappearing.

Appasaheb Bugade, the State President of the organisation, claimed that over 300 companies across the district and the country are involved in this fraudulent activities, with one company in   district alone defrauding people of Rs 40 crore. Ensure all victims receive their money back, he demanded.

Bugade called for the immediate organisation of payment camps throughout the state to refund the deposits of the defrauded victims and to take legal action against the responsible officials. He also pointed out that during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised in several public meetings to return the money to the victims. However, he seems to have forgotten this promise, he said.
