An 18-year-old from Chunabhatti, Maharashtra, and his friends were scammed out of Rs 2.2 lakh while trying to buy tickets for a Coldplay concert. The victim reported that he and his friends planned to purchase 24 tickets, but later discovered they were fake.

While searching online for ticket options, the teen found what appeared to be a legitimate contact number. He initially paid Rs 7,000 via UPI for his ticket and shared the contact with his friends, who collectively spent Rs 2.17 lakh for the remaining tickets.

The scammers sent them a fake email confirmation from ‘confirmationbook-my-show.co’. A relative noticed inconsistencies in the email address, prompting the teen to realize he had been deceived and to file a police complaint.

On October 3, BookMyShow announced that it had filed an FIR regarding ticket black marketing for Coldplay’s shows at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025. The company is investigating unethical sales and may cancel tickets involved in the scam.
