Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi will visit Germany from October 6 to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy and sustainable development. During his three-day visit, Joshi will attend the Hamburg Sustainability Conference on October 7 and 8. He will also hold bilateral meetings with officials from Germany, the United Kingdom, and other nations to boost collaboration in areas like green hydrogen, low-cost finance, and the renewable energy value chain.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy stated that Joshi will emphasize India’s position on green shipping and the role of green hydrogen in reducing carbon emissions in the mobility sector during the conference. This visit is expected to enhance India-Germany relations, fostering business opportunities and advancing renewable energy expansion in both countries and globally.
The visit follows the launch of the India-Germany Platform for Investment in Renewable Energies during the RE-INVEST 2024 event in September. The platform aims to support technology transfer, create business opportunities, and meet the growing demand for capital in renewable energy.
India, which achieved its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) target of 40% cumulative electric power from non-fossil fuel sources by 2021, is on track to reach its 2030 goal of 50%. India’s efforts toward energy transition will create investment and employment opportunities, further supported by international initiatives like the International Solar Alliance.
