Seven children were injured when a low-intensity bomb exploded in the Khilafatnagar area of Bhagalpur, Bihar, on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. The blast caused panic among local residents. Senior police officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Bhagalpur, quickly arrived at the scene to investigate.
To facilitate a thorough inquiry, the SSP established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by City SP K. Ramdas. Three children suffered serious injuries and were taken to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, while four others had minor injuries.
The explosion occurred when the children, playing inside a house, found and struck a tin box. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is on-site to gather evidence, and Ramdas assured the public that all angles are being explored to uncover how the bomb ended up there. Residents are concerned as the investigation continues. Mariyam, the mother of one injured child, described hearing a loud noise just as her son left the house to buy a notebook.
