MYSURU
A total 779 classrooms in the district require minor and major repair work, before the start of the new academic year on May 16. In Chamarajanagar, this number is 686. Meanwhile, the authorities informed that in most of the schools, spare rooms are available for teaching as of now, and there is no critical condition at this juncture.
According to data, in Mysuru district, there are 1,880 lower, and higher primary schools, and 232 high schools. A total 779 classrooms are listed for the repair works in the schools. The department of public instruction (DPI) sent a proposal for funds, for the repair of all these classrooms.
According to the data, 233 classrooms require urgent repair in the T Narasipura taluk, followed by 120 in the Mysuru Rural block. In Mysuru North block, 106 classrooms are in need of repairs.
In Mysuru district, 97 classrooms got damaged due to rain in 2020-21, but the repair work is yet to start. In Chamarajanagar district, 686 classrooms require to be repaired, while 144 classroom buildings need to be reconstructed. In Chamarajanagar block, 44 classrooms need to be reconstructed, while in Gundlupet taluk, l,117 classrooms require to be repaired immediately.
Authorities informed that funds have been sought under the NDRF, for the repair and reconstruction work at schools.
Chamarajanagar DDPI SN Manjunath said that funds have been sought under the NDRF, for the repair and reconstruction of school buildings. “In most of the schools, there are spare rooms to conduct classes, once the new academic year starts. The situation is not critical in any schools. In all the schools, enough classrooms are available to hold classes,” he said.
Mysuru DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs informed that a proposal for funds, to take up repair and reconstruction works, has been submitted through the department. Officials are directed to carry out the minor repair works, he said.
