Shrimati Shetty murder case: Life imprisonment for the guilty

The First Additional District and Sessions Court sentenced the guilty couple to life imprisonment and six and a half months to the third in the case of murdering Shetty of Attavara and dismembering her body into 29 pieces and throwing them in different parts of the city.

The charges against Jonas Samson (35) of Suterpet, Victoria Mathais (47) and Raju (34) of Gudde of Marakada Taripadi were recently proved. In this context, Judge HS Mallikarjuna Swamy has sentenced Jonas Samson and Victoria Mathais to life imprisonment under IPC Section 302 and Section 34 and a fine of Rs 25,000 each.

If the offenders fail to pay the fine, they will have to undergo imprisonment for another year. Under IPC Section 201   and Section 34, seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 each. In case of failure to pay the fine, three months imprisonment, 5 years punishment under IPC section 392 and 34 and a fine of Rs 5,000 each. If they fail to pay the fine, they will have to undergo 6 months imprisonment. Raju has been sentenced to simple imprisonment for six and a half months and a fine of Rs 5,000 under IPC section 414.

In the judgment, it is ordered that the mother of Shetty should be compensated Rs 75,000 as a penalty and the legal services authority should also be compensated.
