Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship 2024 to begin

The 14th edition of the Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship will kick off at the Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh from September 23 to October 3. This year, 28 teams from across the country will compete for the prestigious title, promising nearly two weeks of thrilling hockey.

The tournament structure includes a round-robin phase, where the top team from each pool will advance to the Quarter-Finals, followed by the Semi-Finals, a third-place playoff, and the Final.

On the opening day, six matches are scheduled. In Pool G, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey will face Goans Hockey, while the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu will go up against Hockey Gujarat. In Pool E, Hockey Punjab will challenge Hockey Karnataka, followed by Hockey Bihar’s match against Manipur Hockey. Pool F will feature Hockey Arunachal clashing with Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, and Hockey Chandigarh competing against Hockey Maharashtra.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, ‘The Sub Junior Men National Championship is a vital platform to identify and nurture young talent from across the nation. We are eager to see the future stars of Indian hockey in action.’

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh added, ‘Empowering our young athletes with match exposure is a priority. We look forward to witnessing some impressive performances over the next two weeks.’
