Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad stirred controversy on Monday with a provocative remark about Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Gaikwad announced that he would reward Rs 11 lakh to anyone who silences Gandhi.

Gaikwad criticized Gandhi’s recent comments made in the USA, where Gandhi said that Dalits, Adivasis, and OBCs still lack proper representation in India’s system. He claimed that the current reservation system, established by Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, is insufficient and that India is not a fair place for these communities. Gandhi highlighted disparities in government positions, noting that out of 70 top bureaucrats, only a small fraction are from these underrepresented groups.

In response, Gaikwad accused Gandhi of distorting facts and undermining India’s integrity. He criticized Gandhi’s claims, asserting that they expose the Congress party’s true nature and their attempts to mislead the public. Gaikwad’s offer of a reward for silencing Gandhi was intended to express his frustration over these remarks and to defend the current system against what he sees as baseless criticisms.

Gandhi also addressed concerns about religious freedom in India, discussing the right of Sikhs to wear turbans and visit Gurdwaras without restrictions.
