Former Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Jawhar Sircar revealed his reasons for resigning from the party, citing five main issues. In an interview, Sircar criticized the handling of the RG Kar rape and murder case, stating that the public was dissatisfied with the response. He emphasized that his resignation was motivated by broader concerns, including alleged corruption and favoritism within the health sector.

Sircar also mentioned his discomfort with the public protests by women in West Bengal, which he felt conflicted with his party affiliation. He highlighted a general discontent with the leadership style of certain party leaders and warned that these issues, combined, could harm the party’s reputation. Sircar stressed that Trinamool Congress is currently the only party capable of preventing the BJP from gaining control of West Bengal, given its unique political and social culture.

He suggested that corrective actions should be taken promptly to address these issues and prevent further damage. Sircar criticized the Chief Minister for not addressing the RG Kar incident sooner and for failing to connect with the doctors involved. He also expressed concerns about the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) handling of the case, questioning the motives behind recent arrests and calling for careful scrutiny of the situation.
