Gadchiroli
The day after his daughter Bhagyashree joined Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Dharmaraobaba Atram, an NCP minister, commented on her new political alignment. Atram, who represents Aheri and belongs to the Gadchiroli royal family, offered his best wishes to Bhagyashree but indicated he is prepared to compete against her in the upcoming Assembly elections, expected in mid-November.
Atram criticized Pawar for bringing his daughter into the party, suggesting it is acceptable to seek a new political affiliation but questioning how well she will perform. He noted his 50 years of service to the people and remarked that if she prefers a new party, that is her choice. Atram expressed frustration, stating that Bhagyashree’s recent enthusiasm might be influenced by others.
He also challenged Bhagyashree’s claim of contributing to Gadchiroli’s development, insisting that he has been actively working for the district. Atram emphasized that the voters will decide in the upcoming elections. Previously, Atram had controversially suggested that Bhagyashree and her husband should face severe consequences for their political shift. Despite advice from NCP leader Ajit Pawar, Bhagyashree left the party, causing a political and family dispute.
