Security forces in Poonch district, J&K, arrested terrorist associate Mohd Shabir from Rajouri on Friday. The arrest occurred during a joint operation by the police, army’s 16 Rashtriya Rifles, and CRPF at Potha Bypass in Surankote. Shabir, who tried to flee, was caught with a blue bag containing 36 hand grenades and other explosives.

Shabir was linked to a handler in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Azim Khan, who had instructed him to retrieve the weapons. The police are continuing their investigation and anticipate more arrests.  With elections approaching, security has been tightened, and the army and CRPF are actively countering terrorist threats to prevent surprise attacks.
