A week after meeting Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to raise concerns about Additional Director General of Police M.R. Ajith Kumar and the CM’s Political Secretary P. Sasi, whistleblower and Left-backed Independent MLA P.V. Anvar has escalated his criticisms. On Wednesday, Anvar accused Ajith Kumar and Sasi of deliberately keeping Vijayan uninformed about critical issues.

Anvar’s attack coincides with growing criticism of Vijayan, who is under fire from the Congress-led Opposition and the CPI for Ajith Kumar’s secret meetings with RSS leaders last year. Anvar claimed that an intelligence report on Ajith Kumar’s meetings was intentionally withheld from the CM.

Anvar’s comments followed a cabinet meeting where no decision was made about removing Ajith Kumar from his position. Earlier, Anvar had briefed Vijayan and CPI-M state Secretary M.V. Govindan about Ajith Kumar’s alleged misconduct and Sasi’s support for him. Anvar had previously compared Ajith Kumar to a notorious criminal, accusing him of engaging in undesirable activities.

With the issue not addressed in the recent cabinet meeting, the CPI leadership, including its chief D. Raja, may face further scrutiny if the LDF does not address Anvar’s concerns.
