Shree Gajanan Mahamandal has announced that former Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa and MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal will receive the Sangolli Rayanna Award-2024. The award ceremony is set to take place on September 12 at Akkana Balaga in JC Nagar.
D Govindrao, President of the Mahamandal, shared with the media that the awardees were chosen this year for their notable contributions to society. He also urged the central government to rename several airports in Karnataka after distinguished regional figures.
Govindrao proposed naming the Hubli airport after Sangolli Rayanna, the Belagavi airport after Kittur Chennamma, the Vijayapura airport after Jagajyoti Basaveshwara, and the Shivamogga airport after Rashtrakavi Kuvempu. He emphasized the importance of implementing these changes before November 1.
