Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu congratulated Nishad Kumar for winning the silver medal in the men’s high jump T47 at the Paris Paralympics. Kumar achieved a season-best leap of 2.04 meters to secure his second Paralympic silver, having also earned one in Tokyo three years ago.
Sukhu called Kumar’s achievement a proud moment for the state, highlighting it as an inspiration for young athletes. He expressed hope that Kumar’s success would motivate others in the state to excel in their respective fields.
So far, India has won seven medals at the Paris Paralympics, including one gold, two silvers, and four bronzes. Notable achievements include Preeti Pal’s bronze in the 200m T-35 race, Rubina’s bronze in the P2 Women’s 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final, and Avani Lekhara’s gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final.
