EAM Jaishankar meets Israel’s Director General to discuss West Asia situation

On Thursday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Israeli Director General Yaakov Blitshtein in Delhi. They discussed the ongoing situation in West Asia and noted the progress in India-Israel cooperation.

Jaishankar tweeted, Pleased to receive Director General Yaakov Blitshtein in Delhi. We discussed the continued development of India-Israel cooperation and the situation in West Asia.

On Wednesday, India and Israel held their 17th Round of Foreign Office Consultations. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri expressed India’s concern over the escalating situation in West Asia, emphasizing the need for restraint and dialogue. Both sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the situation in West Asia and the Indo-Pacific.

The Foreign Secretary also condemned the October 7 terror attacks on Israel and called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages.

Earlier in the day, Blitshtein paid tribute to the victims of the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai and inaugurated the Advanced Antimicrobial Emergency Room at JJ Hospital. He praised the hospital’s long history and acknowledged the importance of quality healthcare amidst current challenges in Israel.
