From August 26 to 31, the Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department organized a showcase of Kickboxing and Pencak Silat at the Dhauligiri Peace Pagoda, a historic site of the Kalinga War. The event was attended by Member of Legislative Assembly Babu Singh, who served as the Chief Guest, and officials from the Amateur Kickboxing and Pencak Silat Associations of Odisha.

Additionally, an athletic event was held at Kalinga Stadium, where athletes from state-run sports hostels participated in track and field events such as sprints, long jump, and javelin throw. The athletes also took the Fit India Pledge. The Department of Sports and Youth Services highlighted the athletes’ enthusiasm and participation on social media.

Kickboxing, a European-origin sport, and Pencak Silat, a traditional martial art from Indonesia and Malaysia, were both featured. Kickboxing routines demonstrated strength and technique, while Pencak Silat showcased fluid movements and cultural elements. The performances received strong applause from the audience, including tourists visiting the historic site. The event was a vibrant celebration of both athletic skills and cultural heritage, marking National Sports Week in Odisha.
