KT Rama Rao, Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), called on the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and the Supreme Court to consider contempt proceedings against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday. This request follows Kumar’s comments about the bail granted to BRS MLC K Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy case.
KT Rama Rao expressed his disapproval on X, criticizing Kumar for making disparaging remarks about the Supreme Court. He urged the CJI and the Supreme Court to take note of these comments and initiate contempt proceedings.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar had reacted to Kavitha’s bail by congratulating the Congress party and its advocates, suggesting that the bail was a victory for both the Congress and BRS. He also criticized the political maneuvering involved in Kavitha’s release and hinted at political connections between the Congress and BRS.
Earlier, KT Rama Rao, who is Kavitha’s brother, had expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court for granting her bail, calling it a relief and a triumph of justice. He and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao were present at the Supreme Court when the bail decision was announced.
BRS leader Dr. Sravan Dasoju praised the Supreme Court’s ruling as a victory for truth and justice, emphasizing that the court questioned the need for Kavitha’s continued detention after the investigation and charge sheet were completed.
