Bengaluru’s newest underground market, located near Vijayanagara Metro Station, has officially opened its doors, offering a modern shopping experience with 79 fully air-conditioned shops. This unique market is 100 meters long and 11 meters wide, featuring a 3-meter-wide footpath lined with shops on both sides.
Constructed with top-quality materials, the entire market is paved in granite and equipped with three sensor-activated glass sliding doors, two escalators, and a goods lift. The facility is also outfitted with 26 indoor AC units, ensuring a comfortable environment for both shoppers and vendors.
In addition to the retail spaces, the market includes an electrical room, a store, an office room, and eight easily accessible entry and exit points. Each shop is designed with fire control systems, proper ventilation, and ample lighting to ensure safety and comfort.
The market was developed in two phases under the Nagarothana Yojana and the CM Nava Nagarothana Yojana, with a total investment of ₹13 crores. The first phase saw an expenditure of ₹5 crores, while ₹8 crores were allocated in the second phase.
To address concerns about water ingress, a dedicated drainage system has been constructed around the market, channeling rainwater away and into the main road drain, thus preventing any flooding inside the market.
This modern, well-equipped underground market is set to become a bustling hub of commerce, providing a new shopping destination for the people of Bengaluru.
