In the Ultimate Table Tennis 2024, U Mumba TT and Ahmedabad SG Pipers are set to vie for their second victory when they clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.
Both teams have had mixed results so far. U Mumba TT won their first match 9-6 against Dabang Delhi TTC but lost their second 9-6 to Jaipur Patriots. On the other hand, Ahmedabad SG Pipers started with a 10-5 defeat against Puneri Paltan Table Tennis but bounced back with a 10-5 win over the defending champions Athlead Goa Challengers.
Leading U Mumba TT is Indian star Manav Thakkar, who showcased his skills in the close loss to Jaipur Patriots. He might face Ahmedabad SG Pipers’ captain Manush Shah, creating an exciting matchup for table tennis fans.
Ahmedabad SG Pipers’ victory over Athlead Goa Challengers marked the first UTT 2024 wins for their international players Bernadette Szocs and Lilian Bardet. U Mumba TT hopes their international duo, Quadri Aruna and Maria Xiao, will also find success, as they have shown promise but are still seeking their first win.
The match could also feature a women’s singles encounter between Sutirtha Mukherjee (U Mumba TT) and Reeth Rishya (Ahmedabad SG Pipers), rekindling their rivalry from last season’s final where Sutirtha won, but Reeth’s single game win helped her team to a narrow 8-7 victory.
