Veteran Malayalam actor Siddique has filed a police complaint against actress Revathy Sampath following her allegations of sexual misconduct. The complaint was officially submitted to the Director General of Police, according to Kerala Police.
Revathy Sampath had previously accused Siddique, who is also the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), of sexual harassment. She claimed that the alleged incident took place when she was 21 years old. Revathy said Siddique initially reached out to her on Facebook, referring to her as Mole, a term used in Kerala for a young girl.
In her statement, Revathy described a distressing encounter where Siddique allegedly abused her both physically and mentally. She recounted that during a discussion about a film, Siddique’s behavior turned abusive. Revathy expressed that the trauma from the incident severely impacted her mental health and professional life, and she felt that the response from others made it seem like the abuse was dismissed as commonplace.
Revathy managed to escape the situation by fleeing in an auto-rickshaw. She described her attempts to defend herself as best as she could at that age. Siddique, known for his roles in over 300 Malayalam films and Tamil movies like Jana and Bhaskar Oru Rascal, has yet to respond to the allegations publicly.
