On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Centre will provide ₹40 crore in advance to boost relief efforts in flood-stricken Tripura. Shah stated on X that this amount, coming from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), will support relief operations for those affected by the floods.

In response to the crisis, the Centre has deployed 11 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, three Army columns, and four Indian Air Force helicopters to assist the state government with rescue and relief efforts. Shah reassured the people of Tripura that the Modi government is fully committed to supporting them during these challenging times.

On Thursday, Shah spoke with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha to review the situation and promised all possible assistance from the Centre. The floods and landslides, caused by relentless rain, have resulted in 22 deaths and two missing persons. Approximately 65,400 people are currently housed in 450 relief camps after their homes were damaged. Around 17 lakh individuals have been affected by the heavy rains and floods.

As of Friday morning, conditions have slightly improved with the rain easing and water levels in major rivers receding.
