At the 10th Asian Taekwondo Championship, held at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, young Shanvi from Ramanagara brought glory to India by winning a gold and a silver medal. The event saw participation from 650 contestants representing 44 countries, including strong rivals from Kazakhstan, UAE, Bangladesh, Russia, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia, and Japan. A total of 132 contestants represented India.
In the final match, Shanvi emerged as India’s strongest contender. She secured a gold medal in the patterns competition and a silver medal in the sparring match, finishing as the runner-up.
Shanvi, a second-grade student at Natus International School in Ramanagara, is the daughter of K. Satish, the President of the Ramanagara District Government Employees Association, and Chaitra.
In recognition of her achievements, Shanvi was felicitated by Deputy District Collector Chandraya, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Digvijay Bodke, Deputy Divisional Officer VR Vishwanath, and Karnataka State Government Employees Association District Honorary President Kantaraj, among others. The event was also attended by the school’s principal, coaches Pradeep and Bala Rajan, and various dignitaries from the Taekwondo governing body.
