Google Maps has verified a common observation among Bengaluru residents that walking can sometimes be faster than driving in the city. A recent Google Maps screenshot shared by X user Ayush Singh highlighted the discrepancy between driving and walking times for a distance of about 6 km from Brigade Metropolis to KR Puram Railway Station. According to the screenshot, driving takes approximately 44 minutes, while walking takes around 42 minutes.
The issue of traffic congestion in Bengaluru is attributed to rapid urbanization, inadequate infrastructure, and limited public transport options. This congestion has resulted in significant productivity losses for commuters.
Singh’s post has gained considerable attention, amassing over 300,000 views within a day. While some users acknowledged the frustrations of Bengaluru’s traffic, others disputed Singh’s “only in Bengaluru” perspective.
