Davanagere
The outer police station in Tavaragere, Channagiri taluk, is severely affected by rain, causing cracks and leaks throughout the building. The continuous rainfall has saturated the walls, and the roof is on the verge of collapse. Despite these conditions, the staff continues their daily duties under considerable stress.
Local villagers have voiced concerns over the station’s deteriorating condition, demanding immediate repairs and an alternative arrangement for the staff. They describe the station as unfit for work due to its age and structural issues. During rainy days, the station reportedly accumulates half a foot of water, exacerbating the challenges faced by the lone constable assigned there and potentially leading to increased thefts in the area.
District Superintendent of Police Umaprashanth has acknowledged the situation and informed that the matter has been brought to the attention of the Public Works Department. Plans are underway to await a report and subsequently construct a new building outside Tavaragere for the police station.
Efforts are underway to address the pressing concerns raised by both the villagers and the police staff regarding the dilapidated state of the Tavaragere police station.
